Polls for 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat will be held in a single phase on April 23. Over 4.47 crore electors are eligible to cast their votes in the crucial state, which is often considered as the strong hold of BJP. The results will be announced on May 23.
The BJP had won all 26 Lok Sabha seats in the previous elections (2014 Lok Sabha Elections). Congress is stronger than before and it is getting the support of Hardik Patel who fought for Patidar quota. This strategy could affect the traditional vote bank of BJP. Experts predict that with this new found energy Congress could garner at least a dozen seats in the state. It could be tough for the BJP to retain many seats as the incumbent government has no bigger face in the current political scenario than Prime Minster Narendra Modi.
