In Gujarat, the Lok Sabha election was held in Phase-III on April 30. The election results were announced in Gujarat as in the rest of India on May 16. Gujarat Elections seem to have been overpowered by Modi, to the extent that he fielded mostly new candidates and not sitting MPs as he is sure of his charisma to work. However the results have belied his confidence. Advani may have convincingly beat Mallika Sarabhai but has has failed to excite the Indian voters and the BJP has performed badly in not only gujarat but almost the whole of India. Amisha Patel enetered politics with these elections and contested from Rajkot on an NCP ticket, but she lost.
