Tripura will vote for 2 Lok Sabha elections in two phases - April 7 and 12. The counting of votes will be held on May 23.
The main political parties in Tripura are Communist Party of India (Marxist) - CPI(M), BJP and Congress. In 2004 Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) won both seats. The winning continued in the 2009 and 2014 Lok Sabha election, where CPI (M) once again won both seats. But the fortune of CPI(M) and Congress were lost. In 2018 Assembly election, the incumbent CPI(M) government was defeated by the BJP and its partner Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) winning a large majority of seats. The Congress lost most of the seats. For the current Lok Sabha election, BJP and its alliance partner Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) and the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripra (INPT) will be posing their candidates.
