Pondicherry Election 2019

Elections to the lone Lok Sabha seat in Puducherry will be held on April 11. Counting of votes will be on May 25.

Over 8 lakh voters including 4.1 Lakh women will exercise their franchise at 2,114 polling stations in the Union Territory. Congress party was the most successful party in the history of Puducherry. The party won the seat several times, (2009, 1999, 1996, 1991, 1989, 1984, 1980, 1971, 1967). But the party lost its fortune, with the split when AINR Congress a regional party won the seat in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In 2011 Puducherry Assembly election, AINR Congress won 15 seats and captured the power. In 2016 Assembly Election, Congress-DMK combine won 17 seats to capture the power.
