Raja released on bail: No celebration in DMK Headquarters
Former telecom minister Raja release on bail yesterday. However, there were no such scenes in Chennai where reactions were muted and cautious. The DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, was calm and there were no celebration at party chief M Karunanidhi's residences.
Party sources said Karunanidhi appeared relaxed after being informed about Raja's bail. Talking to reporters, he said the news made him happy.
8 cr butterfly park to come up in Jaya constituenc
Tamil Nadu Government today proposed setting up a Butterfly Park in Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's constituency Srirangam at a cost of over Rs. 8 crore.
A butterfly park on a 10-hectare area in Upper Anaicut Reserve Forest near Srirangam at an outlay of Rs. 8.67 crore", Forest Minister K T Patchaimal told the Assembly. A sum of Rs. 1.62 crore has been sanctioned from the 13th Finance Commission grants and Rs. 7.05 crore would be sanctioned in 2012-13, he said.
Man jumps out of Air India plane in Chennai
A 28-year-old man jumped out of an Air India aircraft through the emergency exit shortly before the passengers were to disembark on landing at the international airport in Chennai today.
The flight from Dubai landed and passengers were waiting for the aerobridge to be opened when the man managed to open the emergency exit door and jumped out, airport sources said.
He ran towards the runway and security personnel rushed and took him into custody, they said.
Nepal plane crash: CM directs medical treatment for injured
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa expressed grief over the death of 15 persons in an air crash in Nepal on Monday and directed a senior official in Delhi to coordinate with the Indian Embassy to bring the bodies of those belonging to the state.
She was shocked to know that 15 persons who were on a pilgrimage lost their lives after their aircraft crashed over a hill near Jomson in Nepal this morning.
