The twin cities of Hyderbad and Secunderabad fall under the same municipal unit which is called the greater Hyderabad municipal corporation. Hyderabad was founded by the Ruler Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 on the banks of the river Musi. Hyderabad today is a cosmopolitan city that is home to a flourishing IT industry and an emerging economic power.

The population of Hyderabad is familiar with a number of languages like Telugu, Urdu, Hindi and English. It's an amalgam of many communities and religions who live in perfect harmony with each other. Islamic culture has left a profound impact on the city and one can notice the influences in terms of architecture, food, lifestyle and also language. As a result Hyderabad has a rich tradition of literature and fine arts in Telugu and Urdu which continue to evolve and flourish. Being multicultural all kinds of festivals are given equal importance and celebrated with a lot of pomp and splendour. Be it Diwali, Eid or Christmas the communities all get together and there are also many music and dance shows that capture the unique culture of the city.

Hyderbad is known for its food cuisine. It is a blend of South Indian, Mughal and Persian influences. One of the most famed dishes of the city is the Hyderabadi biryani. It's a rice dish that's cooked with a rich assortment of marinated meat and spices and its known for its flavour and taste. Some of the other delights include Hubani ka Mitha, Pheni, Phirni, Nahari Kulche, Haleem, Badaam Ki jaali etc. There are many popular eateries and restaurants in city. If you are invited to a telegu home be prepared for lavish food, but some of it may be sour and very spicy. As you are likely to have a very pleasant host it would be wise to not let them have their way as they will tend to overfeed you.

Another prominent facade of the the city is its film industry. Its people love cinema and Tollywood as its known is a flourishing and well to do movie industry in Andhra Pradesh and India. Some of the very prominent personalities who have made it big in the industry are NT Rama Rao, Chirangeevi, Jaya Pradha, BalaKrishna, SP BalaSubramaniam and many others.

A very unique style of Andhra Pradesh is the fetish of their women to match everything. If you notice well you will see that bangles, the stones in the jewellery, the sandles, even the purse and smaller acessories are all matched perfectly. They love to dress and dress well. If you happen to attend a wedding, you will probably see the most exotic jewels on display.
