Big shocked at Rasna girl Taruni death in Nepal air crash
Amitabh Bachchan has expressed shock over the death of child artist Taruni Sachdev, who played his school friend in Paa, in Monday's plane crash in Nepal.
The actor on Tuesday posted on his blog, "Shocked and deeply grieved on learning of the tragic end of Taruni." Taruni was among 13 Indians who were killed in Nepal plane crash.
Govt seeks central study group on Haj facilities
Maharashtra government's Minority Development department on Monday demanded that Centre set up a study group to facilitate a smooth journey for Haj pilgrims.
Looking at the increase in the number of pilgrims from Maharashtra, the quota should also be increased, state Minister for Minority Development, Naseem Khan, said in a statement in Mumbai. He said this year the state government had received more than 40,000 applications. However, Maharashtra's quota was only 8,700.
Pilots' strike costs veggie exporters Rs 44L a day
Small and medium scale vegetable and fruit exporters at the APMC market in Vashi are suffering losses of Rs 44 lakh a day because of the Air India pilots' strike.
Exporter Bhima S Hanje of Deepali Enterprises said the APMC market has 25 small and medium scale vegetable and fruit exporters, most of whom are suffering daily losses of Rs 1.5-2 lakh each. Their wares primarily go to Gulf countries like the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and the UK.
Bal Thackeray stable, to be discharged
Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, who was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, is now stable and will be discharged , a hospital official said.
He was admitted due to his chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and heart-related routine checkup on Saturday, chest physician Jalil Parkar told. The doctors at Lilavati Hospital monitored his health for two days and Monday said that he is fit and stable.
