Asthawan, Biharsharif, Islampur, Hilsa, Nalanda and Harnaut are the other assembly seats located in the district. All of these are currently held by the JD(U) legislators.
Rajgir is one of the seven assembly constituencies that unite to form the Nalanda parliamentary constituency currently represented by Kaushalendra Kumar of the JD (U) who retained the seat by defeating his nearest LJP rival Satyanand Sharma by a margin of 9627 votes in the last parliamentary elections in 2014. The JD (U) managed to win only two Lok Sabha seats in 2014.
Biharsharif, Rajgir, Islampur, Hilsa, Nalanda and Harnaut are the other six assembly segments located in the Nalanda parliamentary constituency.
Police inspector Ravi Jyoti has decided to shed khaki for khadi.
The police officer has quit service to contest from Rajgir assembly constituency in Nalanda district, the home district of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, on a JD(U) ticket.
Unlike policemen who have unfriendly image among masses, this police officer had very cordial relations with people wherever he was posted.
He is famous for Gandhigiri and wherever he was posted, people easily approached him for even petty work, said a JD(U) leader.
