Peace party, which has a good presence in the Tamkuhi Raj assembly constituency, has nominated Swaminath Kushwaha for coming 2017 assembly elections to Uttar Pradesh. In the 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Tamkuhi Raj assembly segment had given a handsome lead of 51148 votes to the BJP Deoria Lok Sabha nominee Kalraj Mishra over his nearest BSP rival Niyaj Ahmad who received 46587 votes in the Tamkuhi Raj assembly constituency.
