For 2017 assembly election to Sishamau the main contest is between BJP and Congress. BSP and SP are also in the reckoning. In the 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, this assembly segment had given a lead of 12522 votes to the BJP’s nominee of Kanpur parliamentary seat Murli Manohar Joshi over his nearest Congress rival and then sitting MP Sriprakash Jaiswal.
