In 2014 parliamentary general elections, the BJP candidate from Hathras Lok Sabha seat, Rajesh Diwakar had established a lead of 34210 votes over her nearest SP rival Ram Ji Lal Suman in the Sikandra Rao assembly segment. It was a spectacular performance by the BJP which managed only 4052 votes in 2012.
