In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Sevapuri has given Narendra Modi a lead of 83228 votes over his nearest rival Vijay Prakash Jaisawal of BSP. In the forthcoming 2017 assembly elections, it would not be a smooth sailing for Samajwadi Party (SP) which currently holds the Sevapuri seat.
