In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP Bijnor Lok Sabha candidate Kunwar Bhartendra had secured a lead of 45582 votes over his nearest SP rival Shahnawaz Rana in the Purqazi assembly constituency. However, the upcoming 2017 assembly election to the seat will be a different ballgame altogether and is all set for multi- cornered contest among the BJP, SP and BSP. Congress will also try to be in the reckoning.
