In the coming 2017 assembly election, Palia will witness a keen contest among BJP, SP and BSP which currently holds the seat. In the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, Palia assembly constituency had given the BJP candidate Ajay Kumar a lead of 15909 votes over his nearest BSP rival Arvind Giri.
