Mungra Badshahpur was the only assembly seat won by BJP in Jaunpur district in 2012. In the 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, this assembly segment had given a handsome lead of 41366 votes to the BJP Jaunpur Lok Sabha nominee Krishna Pratap (K. P.) over his nearest BSP rival Subhash Pandey.
