The BJP had secured 85502 votes in the Mughalsarai assembly constituency in the last general Lok Sabha polls in 2014, a significant rise from 42210 votes in 2012. In this assembly segment, the party had established a lead of 33262 votes over its nearest SP rival Ram Kishun. The upcoming 2017 assembly election to Mughalsarai will witness a triangular contest among BJP, BSP and Samajwadi Party (SP).
