In the 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Modinagar assembly segment had given a lead of 59873 votes to the BJP Baghpat Lok Sabha nominee and former Mumbai police Commissioner Satyapal Singh over his nearest BSP rival Prashant Chaudhri. RLD sitting MP Ajit Singh was relegated to the fourth place in the Modinagar assembly segment.
