Though the BJP candidate from the Misrikh Lok Sabha constituency, Anju Bala had won the seat in 2014 with a margin of 87,363 by defeating her nearest rival and then sitting BSP MP Ashok Kumar Rawat, the former had trailed behind the latter in the Misrikh assembly segment by 13754 votes. The SP which has been wiing the seat since 1993 is also a major force in the constituency.
