In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s candidate from Gonda parliamentary seat had secured 71506 votes in Mehnaun, a sharp rise from just 8584 votes the party polled in 2012. The assembly constituency had given the BJP candidate Kirti Vardhan Singh a lead of 31897 votes over his nearest SP rival Nandita Shukla, the sitting MLA of Mehnaun.
