In the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, Maharajganj assembly constituency had given the BJP candidate Pankaj a lead of 54096 votes over his nearest BSP rival Kashi Nath Shukla. The upcoming 2017 assembly election to the seat is all set for triangular fight among the BJP, BSP and SP.
