In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP candidate from the Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha constituency, Hari Om Pandey, had secured a slender lead of 3006 votes over his nearest BSP rival Rakesh Pandey in the Jalalpur assembly segment.
