In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BSP candidate from the Domariyaganj Lok Sabha constituency, Muhammad Muqeem, had secured a lead of 1368 votes over his nearest SP rival Mata Prasad Pandey in the Itwa assembly segment. Jagdambika Pal who eventually won the Domariyaganj Lok Sabha seat, was relegated to the third place in the Itwa assembly constituency.
