In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP Bijnor Lok Sabha candidate Kunwar Bhartendra had secured a lead of 37621 votes over his nearest BSP rival Malook Nagar in the Hastinapur assembly constituency. Though Shahnawaz Rana of SP was Bhartendra’s nearest rival in the Bijnor parliamentary seat, the BSP was the runner-up in the Hastinapur assembly constituency which forms part of the Bijnor Lok Sabha constituency.
