The upcoming 2017 assembly election to the Deoband seat is all set for multi- cornered contest among the Congress, BJP, SP and BSP. In the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, the constituency had given the BJP candidate Raghav Lakhanpal a lead of 36903 votes over his nearest Congress rival Imran Massod. However, in the bye-election to the seat in, the Congress had wrested the seat from the SP.
