Since 1991 Bareilly Cantt assembly constituency has been backing all the major political parties BJP, BSP, Congress and SP. While BJP’s victory margin in 2012 in the Bareilly Cantt assembly segment was 18949, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP candidate from the Bareilly Lok Sabha constituency, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, had secured a lead of 53710 votes over his nearest SP rival Ayesha Islam.
