In the 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Baraut assembly segment had given a lead of 46058 votes to the BJP Baghpat Lok Sabha nominee Satyapal Singh over his nearest Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) rival and then sitting MP Ajit Singh who was the runner up in only two of the five assembly segments of the Baghpat Lok Sabha constituency.
