The 2017 election to the Aurai assembly seat will witness keen contest among BJP, Congress and BSP. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP candidate from the Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency, Virendra Singh, had secured a lead of 27998 votes over his nearest BSP rival Rakesh Dhar Tripathi in the Aurai assembly segment. Seema Mishra, the SP candidate, was relegated to the third place in this assembly constituency.
