The forthcoming 2017 assembly election to Jhabrera is set for a triangular contest among BJP, Congress and BSP. In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, the BJP candidate from Hardwar parliamentary seat, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank , had established a lead of 8247 votes over his nearest Congress rival Renuka Rawat in the Jhabrera assembly segment.
Presently Jhabrera is represented in the legislative assembly of Uttrakhand by BSP’s Hari Dass who won the seat in 2012 by defeating his nearest Congress rival Rajpal by a margin of 3809 votes in a tri-cornered contest. In that election to the seat while 22781 votes were received by Hari Dass, the Congress candidate got 18972 votes and was followed by BJP’s Vaiyajanti Mala who received 16173 votes. Budh Singh, who entered the fray on behalf of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, was relegated to the fourth place with 3981 votes.
Located in the Hardwar district in Uttrakhand, Jhabrera assembly constituency is formed by the areas covered by PCs Delna, Harjolijhoja, Thanshipur, Mahmudpur, Paniyala Chandapur, Iqbalpur Kamelpur, Madhopur Hajratpur, Nanhera Anantpur, Saliyar Salhapur of Iqbalpur KC, PCs Lakhnota, Jhabrerikalan, Sherpur Khelmau, Kotwal Aalmpur, Jhabrera, Lathardevahun, Thithki Kawadpur, Kurdi, Udalheri of Manglore KC and Jhabrera NAC of Roorkee Tehsil.
Reserved for the candidates belonging to the scheduled castes, Jhabrera is one of the fourteen assembly segments falling under the Lok Sabha constituency of Hardwar. Bhagwanpur, Jwalapur, B.H.E.L. Ranipur, Hardwar, Rishikesh, Doiwala, Dharampur, Pirankaliyar, Roorkee, Khanpur, Manglaur, Laksar and Hardwar are the other thirteen assembly constituencies within Hardwar parliamentary constituency.
In the 2012 assembly election to Jhabrera, the constituency had a total of 95231 registered voters. Of them, 51983 were males and 43248 were female voters.
