In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Zira assembly segment had given the Akali Dal nominee from Khadoor Sahib parliamentary seat a lead of 5671 votes over his nearest Congress rival who received 48257 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate also managed to bag an impressive 20087 votes to finish third in the Zira assembly constituency.
