In 2014 parliamentary general elections, Urmar assembly segment had given the BJP candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seat, Vijay Sampla, a thin lead of 721 votes over his nearest Congress rival who received 36561 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate came third with 28252 votes in the Urmar assembly constituency.
