In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Shutrana assembly segment had given the AAP candidate from Patiala parliamentary seat, Dharam Vira Gandhi, a lead of 4186 votes over his nearest BJP supported Akali Dal rival Deepinder Singh Dhillon who received 35401votes in this assembly segment. The Congress nominee Preneet Kaur came third with 33660 votes in the Shutrana assembly constituency.
