The forthcoming 2017 assembly election to the Sham Chaurasi seat is all set for tri- cornered contest among the BJP-Akali combine, Congress and AAP. Though the BJP candidate from the Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency, Vijay Sampla, had won the parliamentary seat in 2014, he had trailed in the Sham Chaurasi assembly segment by 8447 votes behind the Congress candidate.
