In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Sanour assembly segment had given the AAP candidate from Patiala parliamentary seat, Dharam Vira Gandhi, a lead of 7173 votes over his nearest BJP supported Akali Dal rival Deepinder Singh Dhillon who received 41694 votes in this assembly segment. Congress rival Preneet Kaur came a close third with 41008 votes in the Sanour assembly constituency.
