In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, assembly segment had given the AAP candidate from Sangrur parliamentary seat, Bhagwant Mann , a lead of 22574 votes over his nearest Congress rival Vijay Inder Singla who received 34937 votes in this assembly segment. The BJP backed Akali Dal candidate Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa came third with 32585 votes in assembly constituency.
