In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Rajpura assembly segment had given the Congress candidate from Patiala parliamentary seat, Preneet Kaur, a lead of 2078 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal candidate Deepinder Singh Dhillon who received 35300 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate came third with 33871 votes in the Rajpura assembly constituency.
