In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Raikot assembly segment had given the AAP candidate Harinder Singh Khalsa a lead of 35430 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal rival Kulwant Singh. Congress nominee Sadhu Singh was relegated to the third place.
