The forthcoming 2017 assembly election to the Patiala seat is all set for tri- cornered contest among the BJP-Akali combine, Congress and AAP. Though the AAP candidate from the Patiala Lok Sabha constituency, Dharam Vira Gandhi, had won the parliamentary seat in 2014, he had trailed behind the Congress nominee in the Patiala assembly segment.
