In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Nihal Singhwala assembly segment had given the AAP candidate Prof. Sadhu Singh a lead of 50512 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal rival Paramjit Kaur Gulshan. Congress nominee Joginder Singh was relegated to the third place.
