In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Nakodar assembly segment had given the Akali Dal, backed by BJP, a narrow lead of 797 votes over its nearest rival AAP which received 36700 votes in this assembly segment. The Congress was relegated to the third place with 32640 votes in the Nakodar assembly constituency.
