In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Ludhiana South assembly segment had given the independent candidate from Ludhiana parliamentary seat, Simarjeet Singh Bains a huge lead of 23441 votes over his nearest Congress rival Ravneet Singh Bittu who in turn had established a lead of 2986 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal rival Manpreet Singh Ayali who received 16307 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate came fourth with 11825 votes in the Ludhiana South assembly constituency.
