As things stand today, Ludhiana North is all set for triangular contest among BJP-Akali combine, Congress and AAP. In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Ludhiana North assembly segment had given the Congress candidate from Ludhiana parliamentary seat, Ravneet Singh Bittu, a lead of 17671 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal rival Manpreet Singh Ayali who received 29508 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate and independent candidate Simarjeet Singh Bains came third and fourth places in the Ludhiana North assembly constituency.
