In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Khanna assembly segment had given the Congress candidate Sadhu Singh a lead of 1807 votes over his nearest AAP rival Harinder Singh Khalsa. BJP backed Akali Dal rival Kulwant Singh was relegated to the third place.
