Though Jalandhar North was one of the twelve assembly seats won by the BJP in 2012, in 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Jalandhar West assembly segment had given the Congress nominee from Jalandhar parliamentary seat a lead of 21481 votes over his nearest BJP supported Akali Dal rival who received 27118 votes in this assembly segment. The APP nominee managed to bag 21616 votes to finish third in the Jalandhar West assembly constituency.
