In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Jalandhar Central assembly segment had given the Congress nominee from Jalandhar parliamentary seat a lead of 10250 votes over his nearest BJP supported Akali Dal rival who received 29816 votes in this assembly segment. The APP nominee managed to bag 26317 votes to finish third in the Jalandhar Central assembly constituency.
