In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Gurdaspur assembly segment had given the BJP candidate from Gurdaspur parliamentary seat, Vinod Khanna, a lead of 16171 votes over his nearest Congress rival Partap Singh Bajwa who received 30810 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate secured impressive 25600 votes to finish third in Gurdaspur assembly constituency.
