In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Firozpur Rural assembly segment had given the BJP backed Akali Dal candidate from Firozpur parliamentary seat, Sher Singh Ghubaya, a lead of 7902 votes over his nearest Congress rival Sunil Jakhar who received 49916 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate Satnam Paul Kamboj came third with 18863 votes in the Firozpur Rural assembly constituency.
