In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Fazilka assembly segment had given the BJP backed Akali Dal candidate from Firozpur parliamentary seat, Sher Singh Ghubaya, a lead of 10057 votes over his nearest Congress rival Sunil Jakhar who received 50966 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate Satnam Paul Kamboj came a distant third with 6894 votes in the Fazilka assembly constituency.
