In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Fatehgarh Sahib assembly segment had given the AAP candidate Harinder Singh Khalsa a lead of 937 votes over his nearest Congress rival Sadhu Singh. BJP backed Akali Dal nominee Kulwant Singh was relegated to the third place.
