In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Dirba assembly segment had given the AAP candidate from Sangrur parliamentary seat, Bhagwant Mann , a lead of 15720 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal candidate Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa who received 43958 votes in this assembly segment. The Congress candidate came third with 17433 votes in the Dirba assembly constituency.
