In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Dera Baba Nanak assembly segment had given the BJP candidate from Gurdaspur parliamentary seat, Vinod Khanna, a handsome lead of 25384 votes over his nearest Congress rival who received 37012 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate came third with 19880 votes in Dera Baba Nanak assembly constituency.
