Before 2012, Bhadaur was a stronghold of the Akali Dal. In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Bhadaur assembly segment had given the AAP candidate from Sangrur parliamentary seat, Bhagwant Mann, a lead of 28734 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal candidate Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa who received 31800 votes in this assembly segment. The Congress candidate came third with 31800 votes in assembly constituency.
